Seo-
SEO is an acronym for "search engine optimization" or "search engine optimizer." Search engines have four functions - crawling, building an index, calculating relevancy & rankings and serving results. Search engines are one of the primary ways that Internet users find Web sites. That's why a Web site with good search engine listings may see a dramatic increase in traffic.  Search engine optimization means ensuring that your Web pages are accessible to search engines and are focused in ways that help improve the chances they will be found.

When a person searches for something online, it requires the search engines to scour their corpus of billions of documents and do two things – first, return only those results that are relevant or useful to the searcher’s query, and second, rank those results in order of perceived value (or importance). It is both “relevance” and “importance” that the process of search engine optimization is meant to influence. In order to be listed in the search engines, your content - the material available to visitors of your site - must be in HTML text format. Images, Flash files, Java applets, and other non-text content is virtually invisible to search engine spiders, despite advances in crawling technology. The easiest way to ensure that the words and phrases you display to your visitors are visible to search engines is to place it in the HTML text on the page.

Search engine optimization works on the principle of satisfying search engine algorithms. Search engines used advanced mathematical equations to analyze and sort websites. Websites that correspond to those equations(algorithms) with highest relevancy get top spots in search results.

The algorithms are somewhat decoded through various tests by search engine optimizers, however, there is no magic formula to find out how SEO works.

The complicated algorithms of search engines may appear at first glance to be impenetrable, and the engines themselves provide little insight into how to achieve better results or garner more traffic. Once Google attempts to index all the pages in your site, it looks at these elements for relevance;
• Title of Page
• Meta Description
• Meta Keywords
• Number of Quality Inbound Links
• Quality of Websites Linking to you
• Relevancy of Inbound Links

While there are many more factors in Google algorithm, which define how SEO works, the above are considered to be the most important basic factors. “Content is King” is a phrase you hear a lot. If you have great content other people will be keen to linking to you – which is essentially automatic link building. Of course it comes through many hours of work, as there must be a good reason for people to link to you. The more links you have the better.

While there are many things you as a webmaster can do to improve your search engine results, you may want to consider using a search engine optimizer. Things to consider will be your budget, the amount of time you are will to devote to improving your search engine results, and the amount of time you have for your website to start bringing in customers. There are no guarantees when it comes to search engine optimization and there are several things you want to consider.

Deciding to hire an SEO is a big decision that can potentially improve your site and save time, but you can also risk damage to your site and reputation. Make sure to research the potential advantages as well as the damage that an irresponsible SEO can do to your site. Many SEOs and other agencies and consultants provide useful services for website owners, including:

  • Review of your site content or structure
  • Technical advice on website development: for example, hosting, redirects, error pages, use of JavaScript
  • Content development
  • Management of online business development campaigns
  • Keyword research
  • SEO training
  • Expertise in specific markets and geographies.
While SEOs can provide clients with valuable services, some unethical SEOs have given the industry a black eye through their overly aggressive marketing efforts and their attempts to manipulate search engine results in unfair ways.  Some things to be wary of include SEO firms who contact you by email when unsolicited. Beware of SEOs that claim to guarantee rankings, allege a "special relationship" with Google, or advertise a "priority submit" to Google. There is no priority submit for Google. In fact, the only way to submit a site to Google directly is through their Add URL page or by submitting a Sitemap and you can do this yourself at no cost whatsoever. Avoid SEOs that talk about the power of "free-for-all" links, link popularity schemes, or submitting your site to thousands of search engines. These are typically useless exercises that don't affect your ranking in the results of the major search engines -- at least, not in a way you would likely consider to be positive.
