The
Hype Machine- The Hype Machine keeps track of what music
bloggers write about. They handpick a set of kickass music blogs and
then present what they discuss for easy analysis, consumption and
discovery. This way, your odds of stumbling into awesome music or
awesome blogs are high. The Hype Machine is an independent company
based in Brooklyn, NY., whose focus is on making the most culturally
rich music discovery experience on the web. The Hype Machine tracks
a variety of MP3 blogs. If a post contains MP3 links, it adds those
links to its database and displays them on the front page. Some of
the frequently accessed tracks are cached by the Hype Machine
server, much like Google Search caches web pages, to reduce load on
the bloggers' servers and protect their bandwidth. Those tracks are
NOT available for download, but you can preview them via the play
buttons that are next to each track.
Tiny Mix Tapes- Music and culture blog and reviews. "At Tiny Mix
Tapes, we publish news, reviews, and features on every single style
of music in existence. We like films, politics, satire, and
irreverence too. Contrary to what you may think, we don’t write for
money or fame. Tiny Mix Tapes is comprised of a bunch of
over-achievers, and our primary jobs range from studenting,
teaching, receptioning, cooking, and being full-time girlfriends of
past models, to curing cancer and supplying Merriam-Webster with new
words like "studenting" and "receptioning." It does help, of course,
that two of our core members have been diagnosed with mild-to-medium
cases of obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia. We like to
refer to these two writers as "troubled geniuses" in the vein of
Sylvia Plath and Virginia Woolf. And in addition to the inordinate
amount of Marxists on staff, one of our writers was arrested for a
terrorist hoax. Thus, we write because we get off on it, and it is
both a sheer love of cultural critique and a unified obsession with
Sundafyllir Mostrarskegg La Resistance that keep Tiny Mix Tapes in
greased, working order."

Open Left- left politics.
OpenLeft is a news, analysis and action website dedicated toward
building a progressive governing majority in America. The three
founding partners are Chris Bowers, Mike Lux, and Matt Stoller.

The Monkey Cage- Blog by political scientists. Democracy is the art of running the circus from the monkey cage. - H.L. Mencken.
Their goal is to publicize political science research.
Political scientists have been relatively slow in progressing to the
blogosphere. The Monkey Cage provides informed commentary on
political events and issues. Don’t read anything too
self-important in the word “informed.” All we mean by that is that
they draw upon extant research, as well as their own data analyses,
to speak to contemporary politics.
Talking Points Memo- Joshua Micah Marshall's blog of politics
and commentary. Talking Points Memo (TPM) is one of
the most innovative political news organizations in the United
States. The editors of Time magazine say TPM
"has become the prototype of what a successful Web-based news
organization is likely to be in the future." With its relentless
focus on breaking news, original reporting and investigative
journalism, TPM has made itself a must-read for DC
insiders, the media who cover them and politically engaged people
everywhere. And media watchers have taken notice too: In addition to
many other awards and citations, TPM was the first
online news organization to win the prestigious George Polk Award in
2008.
Stanley Fish-

administrator. Stanley Fish is a professor of humanities and
law at Florida International University, in Miami. He has also

Duke University and the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is the
